Lady Bobcats Defeat Monroe Community College, 82-65

The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Women's Basketball team defeated Monroe Community College on Saturday afternoon, 82-65. The victory for the Lady Bobcats improves their record to 3-0 on the season.
How it happened:
After a two-week break, the Lady Bobcats were back in action on the road for a tough matchup with Monroe Community College. At the start of the game, the Lady Bobcats needed to knock off some rust and get back into the rhythm of a live game. Over the first ten minutes, they were able to battle and take an 18-13 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Bobcats really took control of the game and showed some of the form that we have seen early this season. Good defensive possessions led to easy baskets in transition and helped the Lady Bobcats open up a 37-25 lead heading into the half.
The story of the second half is similar to that of the second quarter. The Lady Bobcats jumped on top of Monroe Community College and only looked to extend their lead. Leading scorers for the Lady Bobcats, Jehiah Cook (22 points) and Valena Hickerson (16 points) paced the Lady Bobcats throughout the second half.
After opening up a 20-point lead through three quarters, the Lady Bobcats sustained their lead throughout the fourth and improved to 3-0 on the season with an 82-65 win.
"I am proud of the way that our team was able to grow throughout the game," said Head Coach Quantae Elijah. "We showed a little bit of rust early on, but stuck with the gameplan that we had heading into the game and really started to execute after the first quarter. We will look to recover over the next 48 hours and prepare for a big matchup with SUNY Canton on Monday night."
