Men’s Team Victorious in Home Opener
Syracuse, NY –
What Happened:
The Bobcats defated Roberts Wesleyan College 3-0 this afternoon getting themselves into the win column in their Home Opener of the 2023-2024 season. Bryant & Straton Syracuse's physical dominance was in full effect the entire game. Led by two of B&SC Syracuse's offensive weapons, Sean Altidor and Gneh-Kewon Mark Dahn III, the duo is proving once again to put the USCAA on notice. At the break we were deadlocked at 0-0 with both teams getting some early opportunities but not finding the net. Coach Dimitrievski would have his men ready to attack in the second-half.
We finally broke the tie on a beautiful setup pass from Unobatsa Mbaiwa who found Dahn III in the box, who fired a missile into the net. Getting on the board did not mean the Bobcats would get conservative. They stayed on the attack and kept getting themselves more and more chances. They limited any offensive attack on the defensive side for Roberts and seemed to keep the ball on their side of the half for their entire distance of the 2nd frame.
The second goal came from the setup man Unobatsa who worked his way into the box and earned himself a penalty kick. One-on-one with the goalie, he sent it right past the goalkeeper and gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. The third and final goal of the game came from Jonathan Mihaylov who found himself in front with a chance and with a nifty play to send it past the last line of defense for Roberts and gave the Bobcats the 3-0 advantage.
This is the offensive production that the team needed after a tough opening weekend where they were leading 2 nil against Massoit College before it was ruled a no contest due to lightening. They were similarly deadlocked at the break against Fisher but this time they found a way to get to get the ball in the net. Coach Dimitrievski has his team in the drivers seat to make another run towards a National Championship.
Next Game:
The Bobcats will have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Batavia to face off against Genesee Community College on Sunday September 17th at 1 PM
