Bobcats Fall 3-1 to Genesee CC :
Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse & Genesee Community College faced off Sunday afternoon in a clash of two defensive powerhouses. Genesee started the game on the attack, showing the fast tempo they are known to play with. The Bobcats denied the early opportunities by the Cougars, one in particularly was a chance by Genesee CC in from the goal, but Antonio Costa made a diving stop to deny the shot attempt. Genesee CC had some early corner kick opportunities in the first frame, but the Bobcats defensive side made sure to clear any shot on target.
When we reached the break, the game was deadlocked at 0-0 once again. Seemingly creating a trend, Bryant & Stratton is establishing themselves as being the defensive stopper that Coach Dimitrievski said they were on the “Bobcat Buzz” after their 3-0 win against Roberts Wesleyan College. In the 50th minute, the Cougars broke the tie as they worked their way into the box and scored on a chip pass from right in front. The Bobcats looked to answer the bell and score the equalizer. Under 35 minutes to play, the B&SC Syracuse team didn’t let the goal take away their focus on the defensive side.
In the 66th minute, Unobatsha Mbaiwa earned himself a PK, and similarly to Saturday’s opportunity, he buried it behind the GK to tie the game at 1-1. Later in the contest, Genesee CC reclaimed the lead off of a free kick right outside the box making it 2-1 in the 75th minute. After a free kick in the 79th minute, Genesee earned themselves a corner kick off of the deflection. They would score on a header to make it 3-1.
Genesee CC was coming in 6-0, ranked #2 in their respected division. This is a team that was scoring eight goals per game, allowing .083 themselves. Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse held their own against a team that is at the top of their division in the NJCAA. This Bobcat team refuses to quit each and every single time they step foot on the pitch. With every game, they will gain more chemistry together, and will ultimately become the championship caliber squad they are destined to be.
Next Game:
The Bobcats will face off against conference foe Bryant & Stratton Rochester on Saturday the 23rd at 1:00 PM
