Second Weekend Sweep keeps Bobcats Undefeated in 2018
Bryant & Stratton College’s five-game winning streak was at risk against Berkeley College (NJ). The teams carried a 0-0 tie well into the second half with Berekely responding well after being dispatched 5-0 by the Bobcats last week.
It was in the 67th minute when Joel Desire struck. Desire’s long range strike from 30 yards blew past Berkeley goalkeeper Robert Parker, staking the Bobcats to a 1-0 lead. The lone tally would hold up and keep the second-ranked Bobcats undefeated.
Coming off a five-goal defeat to the Bobcats just five days earlier, the Knights kept BSC’s potent offense at bay thanks to terrific goalkeeping from Parker while being outshot 18-4. Bryant & Stratton boasts two of the nation’s most potent scorers in Uros Momic and Romaine Williamson. Berkeley managed to keep each off the scoresheet, though the pair combined for eight shots and three on target.
The nation’s second-best save percentage, owned by BSC’s Julian Guesnet, improved with yet another clean sheet, the fifth of the nation for the Bobcats.
Bryant & Stratton found their offense the following day as both Momic and Williamson each tallied in a 3-1 win over Essex Community College.
The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead against Essex, with Williamson opening the scoring in the 20th minute and Momic adding a tally in the 30th. Essex would respond in the closing minutes of the first half but Momic added a vital insurance tally in the 70th minute to lock up yet another victory.
With another weekend sweep in their back pocket, the 7-0 Bobcats head to the back half of their schedule with key matches which set the stage for a run at the USCAA’s number one overall ranking and the national tournament.
