Women's Basketball Wins First Game In Program History!!
It was a historical weekend for Bryant & Stratton College in Syracuse. The men's soccer team won their second national championship in Virginia Beach on Sunday. The women's basketball team also made their mark in the history books on Saturday, November 9th. They won their first game in program history against Albany College of Pharmacy of Health Sciences in their home opener by a score of 92 to 62.
"It is a special moment for our program. The ladies have been working extremely hard. It is great to experience our first win as a team" Clay Sherman following the Syracuse Bobcats first win.
"We really played as a team. The entire group contributed and brought great energy to the game. We got after it on the defensive side of the ball which led to multiple baskets in transition."
Four Bobcats scored in double digits, while two finished just shy with 9 points each. Senior Amanda Cruz led the way with 23 points, 12 steals, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. Freshman Tashema Lee had a double-double performance. She finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Suliat Afolabi contributed with 13 points. She stretched the floor knocking down a pair of three pointers early in the game. Lakeima Williams also filled up the stat sheet. She was a force on the defensive side of the ball with five steals and four blocks. Williams chipped in offensively with 13 points. Alvina Davis and Darmarris Hudson also added 9 points each for the Bobcats.
"The ladies are really starting to play together. We are beginning to understand our roles within the team and figuring out how everyone can make an impact. We are excited to keep the momentum rolling as we move forward."
The Syracuse Bobcats will travel to New York City this upcoming weekend for a pair of games. They will take on Vaughn College on Friday, November 15th, and Berkeley College on Saturday, November 16th.
