High Scoring Affair Ends in 4-4 Draw Against Alfred State
A high scoring affair between the Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats and Alfred State Pioneers concluded in a 4-4 draw after the sides trades blows throughout regualtion and double overtime.
The Lady Pioneers opened the game with a goal by Maggie Meyer (Red Creek, NY) after a defensive mishap by the Lady Bobcats at the 11:16 mark. The Lady Bobcats looked to counter after being down 0-1 but were unsuccessful. The Lady Pioneers found their chance again and were able to find the back of the net, off a corner kick by Maggie Meyer (Red Creek, NY) to Olivia Welton (Orchard Park, NY) at the 31:5l mark.
The Lady Bobcats fought hard and did not give up as they continued their offensive strikes. Junior midfielder Amela Racic (Utica, NY) was able to answer for the Lady Bobcats as she beat the Lady Pioneer’s defense and rocketed a goal from the 18 yard line at the 36:36 mark. The Lady Bobcat’s continued to gain momentum and their senior forward Portia Davis (Pares, Antigua and Barbuda) was able to find the back of the net from a through ball by Kadaysha Hughes (Mayaro, Trinidad and Tobago)at the 38:39 mark. The senior forward found herself one on one with the keeper once again, this time through a ball from Koemhong Hout (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) at the 39:54 mark. The Lady Bobcats made a historic comeback and finished the first half with a 3-2 advantage over the Lady Pioneers.
The Lady Pioneers did not let up and were able to score two crucial goals in the second half. Carissa Pompa (Rochester, NY) was able to find the net off of a cross from Michayla Salatel (Geneseo, NY) at the 56:47 mark to take the score to a 3-3 draw. Both the Lady Bobcats and the Lady Pioneers were eager to score the next goal to give their team the lead. The lady Pioneers were able to put the ball in the back of the net first with a goal from Olivia Welton at the 79:59 mark. The Lady Bobcats set out to score a goal as quick as possible to keep themselves in the game. Freshman midfielder Koemhong Hout was able to score the equalizing goal for the Lady Bobcats off of a pass form Portia Davis (Pares, Antigua and Barbuda) at the 87:26 mark.
The Lady Bobcats and the Lady Pioneers found themselves at a 4-4 draw at the end of the second half. After a long fought out game, both teams went through the double overtime scoreless. Each team had key opportunities but were unable to counter and win the game.
The Lady Bobcats (3-1-1) will be home this week as they face SUNY ESF this upcoming Thursday at 4:00 p.m
