Bryant & Stratton College - Syracuse
Women's Soccer Still Seeking Path to Nationals
Oct 16, 2017

The Bryant & Stratton College women's soccer team needed to keep the positive momentum they've enjoyed recently in order to keep their national tournament hopes alive.

The Bobcats entered their match against #3 SUNY ESF facing tall odds on a cold night. ESF took the lead with a goal scored against the run of play as Alyssa Hughes finished off the play with a tap in inside the six yard box but the lead would be short lived as Cindy Jacquet evened the score at one after sneaking in behind the ESF defense.

Lauren Archer gave ESF the lead from the penalty spot but the Bobcats would again answer thanks to Jacquet once again. Jacquet hammered a screamer into the upper right corner of the net to lock the game at two.

ESF would put the game away, however, after four minutes of overtime. Shannon Gardinier slotted home the golden goal game winner to strike a blow to BSC's tournament hopes.

Things wouldn't get better against Alfred State for the Bobcats. Despite sending numerous chances on net, Bryant & Stratton were unable to break through. In their push to break through, the Bobcats had a defensive lapse that allowed Alfred to score the game's lone goal, sending the Bobcats a 1-0 defeat.

Bryant & Stratton College will need a big performance on Wednesday, October 18th if they hope to qualify for the postseason. The final home game of the year will be a "Blue Out" and fans are encouraged to wear their BSC blue to support the Bobcats. The game kicks at 4:00pm for senior night and the final chance to punch a ticket to nationals.
