Back-to-Back Wins Put the Bobcats Back on Track
Oct 3, 2016

The weekend of September 24 wasn't kind to either the men's or women's soccer teams at Bryant & Stratton College. It was particularly rough on the men's side as they fell 4-0 to University of Maine-Fort Kent, the team they fell to in the 2015 National Championship.

The Bobcats bounced back last week with a pair of wins, including Saturday's 3-1 triumph over Alfred State. BSC's resurgence began in earnest on Wednesday with an impressive 5-0 over SUNY Delhi, a victory powered by an incredible flurry of five goals in under 20 minutes of play in the first half.

BSC's dominance extended through the entire contest with Delhi but the true highlights were sparked by Matthieu LeRoux's goal in the 21st minute of the half. Alex Pompo and Ojai Bedward added to the lead in just two minutes. Gontzal Gili Balaguer picked up BSC's fourth goal in the 25th minute, capping an incredible four minute span of play.

LeRoux would add his second of the game in the 38th minute, pushing his team scoring lead to six goals. He wasn't done for the week, scoring his seventh goal of the year against Alfred on Saturday.

The security marker from LeRoux against Alfred pushed the Bobcat lead to 3-0 after Zino Zampach scored a pair in the first half. The trio of goals wouldn?t be answered until the 67th minute when Brandon Holley scored off a corner to put Alfred on the board.

Harry Watson and Refik Begic continued to split time in goal for the Bobcats as Watson only faced a pair of shots on target while Begic had a busier week, stopping four of the five shots he faced over the two matches.

The pair of wins puts the Bobcats back on track for an assault on the top of the USCAA polls. Games against Monroe Community College on Wednesday, September 5 and two home fixtures against Villa Maria and SUNY ESF next weekend provides BSC the chance to continue building momentum heading into the national tournament.
