Bobcats Fall to Maine-Fort Kent in Rematch of 2015 National Championship
Sep 26, 2016

Just under 12 months removed from a heartbreaking National Championship loss, Bryant & Stratton College had the opportunity to exact revenge on the University of Maine-Fort Kent. However, the rematch was more of the same for the Bobcats.

Hampered by injuries to four key players, the Bobcats established control early on. Despite controlling play early and even creating an open break for Gontzal Gili Balaguer, the Bobcats failed to topple the defending champs, losing 4-0 and dropping their first contest of the season.

The opening 20 minutes of the game looked to be setting the table for a much different outcome as the Bobcats carried a 5-0 advantage in shots while stifling UMFK's opportunities to counter. However, shortly after the 20-minute mark UMFK managed to break the ice as Tom Coxon put home the first goal of the season against BSC.

Chasing the game in the second half, BSC fell behind further as Ben Kluvers recorded a hat trick over the final 45 minutes to put the game out of reach.

"It is very difficult to play the #1 ranked team in the nation and have 4 key players sidelined due to injuries," Coach Nick Dimitrievski said.

The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, September 28 against SUNY Delhi at 4:00pm.
