Men’s Basketball Team Starts Season 3-0
In the Season Opener, The Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse Bobcats traveled to play B&SC Rochester on November 2nd
At the break , B&SC Syracuse was done by 5. Knowing the talent the team has, this was not the ideal way to kickoff the season. However, in the second half the Syracuse team was able to outscore their opponent 41-26 and were able to distance themselves to get a comfortable lead.Moses Hughes led all scorers with 25 & 10 boards, also Antonio Scott added 20 & 10 boards for a double double of his own. Both teams are very familiar with one another & B&SC Syracuse prepared to limit the damage done by Rochester’s star guard Marcus Zappia. The B&SC Rochester guard had 16 at the break, but was held to 6 in the 2nd half. Once B&SC Syracuse went on a run in the middle of the second half, they were able to retake the lead and go up by 10. The B&SC Syracuse Bobcats earned their first win of the season after defeating Bryant & Stratton Rochester 76-66.
In the home opener on November 5th against Fulton-Montgomery CC. This Raiders team is one who loves to get out and run in transition, so the Bobcats did their homework and forced FMCC to play to the tempo the home team wanted. At the break, B&SC Syracuse led by 5. In the 2nd half , the Bobcats were able to outscore FMCC by 9 to extend their lead. Antonio Scott led all scorers with 22 , with 8 boards and 7 assists. Moses Hughes notched another double-double with 20 & 10 of his own. Tyrece Thompson is proving to be a force on both ends of the floor as he finished with 16 & 7 with some emphatic jams that slammed the door on any late comebacks FMCC could have hoped for. The Bobcats won 81-67.
In the 3rd game of the win streak, the Bobcats faced off against Cayuga CC where they dominated in a 95-58 win. They were only up 11 at the break, but the offense exploded in the 2nd half.Antonio Scott had another impressive game where he nearly shot perfect from long-range, finishing with 22 on 8-10 from the field, and 5-6 from beyond the arc. He also added 6 assists & 5 boards. Moses Hughes nearly had his 3rd double-double in as many games, but still finished with 16 & 8 of his own. Darren Joyner had himself quite the 2nd half, he finished with 16 , on 4-7 behind the three. Off the bench, Tayron Bangs added 14, including 2 threes. Showing his quickness after a missed shot, Tayron raced back on defense to steal the ball back from Cayuga, to finish with a tough lay up & under for two.
This was the second half the Bobcats needed as it shows what abilities they can tap into at any given time. When the team plays at this level, oppositions are going to having trouble defending them.
Next Game:
The Bobcats will have a USCAA matchup with Atlantis University on Wednesday November 15th @ 6:00 PM
