Syracuse, NY-
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Basketball defeated Bryant & Stratton College- Albany 64-62 on Saturday night. The victory pushes the Bobcats record to 16-6 on the season.
How it Happened:
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Basketball team defended their home court on Saturday night for the last time of the 2022-23 regular season with a hard fought 64-62 victory over visiting Bryant & Stratton College- Albany. Prior to tip-off, the Bobcats honored graduating seniors Josue Oreste and Cheikh Dieng for their positive contributions to the Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Basketball program.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle with both teams struggling to find their rhythym offensively. Despite getting good looks on the offensive end, the shots were not falling for the Bobcats throughout a majority of the first half and saw the visitors take a 20-13 lead with 6:45 remaining in the first half. However, big 3-pointers from Jameel Abdallah and Moses Hughes (just back from injury) helped turn the table over the last 5 minutes and give the Bobcats their first lead of the game. Heading into the halftime break, the Bobcats of Syracuse led 30-26.
The Bobcats continued to build upon the momentum from the end of the first half as they opened up the second half on a 14-4 run led by a few big baskets from Anton Berga. With 12 minutes to play, the Bobcats had opened up a 44-30 lead which they would never give back to the visitors.
Perhaps the biggest play of the game came with just 4 seconds remaining with Berga at the free throw line and the Bobcats leading by just 1-point. Berga would miss the front end of the 1-and-1, but senior forward Josue Oreste would not be denied a victory on his senior night got the offensive rebound and was fouled. Oreste would make 1 of 2 free throws and prevent the visitors from getting off a shot to ensure a 64-62 victory for the Bobcats on Senior Night.
Next Game:
The Bobcats will play their final game of the 2022-23 regular season on Monday, February 20th at Cheyney University at 7pm.
