Pittsburgh, PA-
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Basketball team dropped their 3rd game of the season to Point Park University, 88-65 on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Bobcats' overall record to 4-3 on the season.
How it happened:
The Bobcats traveled down to Pittsburgh, PA for a tough matchup against NAIA opponent, Point Park University. The first 10-minutes of the game were a contested battle as both teams made shots and the lead changed three times. Baskets from Darren Joyner and Josue Oreste helped keep the Bobcats in the game over the first 10 minutes.
However, with the game tied at 11, the Pioneers of Point Park University would go on an 8-0 run and never give back the lead to the Bobcats. Heading into the half, the Pioneers lead by a score of 37-27.
In the second half, the Bobcats pushed to get back into the game, but the strong shooting performance from Point Park University was too much to overcome. At one point in the second half, the Pioneers were shooting 50% from the field and over 40% from three-point range.
The leading scorers on the afternoon for the Bobcats were Darren Joyner (12 points) and Tyrece Thompson (12 points). Thompson came into the game for the Bobcats and was perhaps the lone bright spot on the afternoon with his strong play in the second half.
"Point Park is a really good and well coached team," said Head Coach Clay Gagen-Sherman following the loss. "We have scheduled several games like this one to test our group and play in tough environments. We need to learn from this experience but move past it and continue to get better every day."
