"It was nice to end the semester with a win. I believe we improved in some of the areas where we struggled in our previous game. We did a better job with shot selection, were more active on the glass, and defended in transition more effectively" Coach Clay Sherman following the Lady Bobcats fifth win in program history.
A majority of the team's points came inside with 44 points in the paint. Darmarris Hudson (15 points and 13 rebounds) Lakeima Williams (13 points and 10 rebounds) and Tashema Lee (12 points and 10 rebounds) were all forces for Bryant & Stratton on the interior. Amanda Cruz also filled up the stat sheet with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals.
The Bryant & Stratton Syracuse Lady Bobcats finished their first semester with a record of 5-7. They have been ranked 9th in the country through the first two weeks of the USCAA national polls. As the first half of the season comes to a close, the team is finding their identity and gearing up for a stretch of home games next semester. They will play seven games at Bishop Grimes High School against other top USCAA opponents. The Lady Bobcats will be back in action on January 18th in a double header with the men against Villa Maria. The men will tip off at 4:00 pm and the women will follow at 6:00 pm!
And for the men...REDEMPTION!!!
After suffering a heart breaking loss at the final buzzer of overtime last season, the Bobcats redeem themselves with a 117-107 victory over the Cazenovia College Wildcats.
The Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse Bobcats hosted Cazenovia on Sunday in a rematch of last year's epic game between the two schools. The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead to start the game. After a Wildcat timeout, Cazenovia jumped back in the game. It was a very fast paced, back and forth match. The Bobcats would close out the first half and head to the locker rooms holding onto a 58-53 advantage.
B&SC came out in the second period with the same energy and intensity as they did in the first half and watched their 5 point lead jump to 11 just a couple minutes into the half. The Bobcats would grow the lead, and with just 9 minutes left of the game they would hold a 19 point lead. Unfortunately, they lead wouldn't hold. The Wildcats clawed their way back. From the 9 minute mark to the 5:35 mark, the lead had shrunk from 19 to 8. Cazenovia would get as close as 5 points, but with a 100-95 lead Bryant & Stratton College dug in. Hard fought rebounding and a bunch of made free throws down the stretch led to the Bobcats walking away with a 117-107 victory.
The Bobcats (4-8) were led by sophomore forward, Hakeem Ali (25 points, 12 rebounds), junior forward Aaron Burton (15 points, 15 rebounds) and off the bench, sophomore guard Cheikh Dieng (23 points, 3-5 3FG).
Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse will hit the road for a contest against Finger Lakes CC on Wednesday for a 7pm
As Always, Go Bobcats!
