Bobcats soccer remain undefeated!
On friday our women's team hosted Washington Adventist University at the CNY Family Sports Centre in Baldwinsville. Coach Alex wanted the team to start games with more energy and thats what they certainly did this weekend. Lyla Lionel (USCAA Player of the week) started the scoring 4 minutes into the game with the assist from Marie Seeger. Then 8 minutes later Marie got in on the scoring herself with a goal of her own at the 12 minute mark. The bobcats out shot Washington Adventist 20-5 and finished with a victory by a score of 8-1. I was able to catch up with Coach Alex after the game,"I think we finally brought that starting energy I've been looking for and took control early. This is a team that has given us problems for a couple years and I'm proud of the way we took control early and maintained it throughout the game". The women improved their record to 5-0 and will take on St. John Fisher College at home this Tuesday at 3PM. The women's JV team took the field saturday against Roberts Wesleyan! It was a a competitive contest with both teams scoring, and ended in a draw 1-1. Coach Alex mentioned, "Games like this give our ladies a lot of valuable experience. We have been taking care of business so far this year and playing in a close games like this at home will really benefit us when we start facing tougher and tougher competition." The next women's JV game is on the road at St. John Fisher on October 7th.
Our men's JV team took the field after the women on saturday. They too took on Roberts Wesleyan at the CNY Family Sports Centre. The Bobcats were able to secure the victory by a score of 3-0. Coach Nick said "I'm happy with the progress we are making and I look forward to how much we can still improve the rest of the season." Our Men's team took the field Sunday against the visiting Berkeley College of New Jersey. Almost immediately the Bobcats started scoring with a goal by Yago Pimenta, followed by goals by Mark Parchment and Romaine Williamson. The Bobcats rolled to a 9-0 victory with all 9 goals being scored in the first half. Coach Nick added, "Berkely is consistently a really good team in the USCAA and we were able to control almost all of this game. I like the adjustments we have been making and we have a big test coming up this week as Essex comes to town." The undefeated Essex County Community College Wolverines will come to town Saturday to take on the undefeated Bobcats at the CNY family Sports Centre. You won't want to miss this match up on September 28th at 1PM.
The Bobcats cross country team traveled to the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational this weekend in Rochester. Freshman Sheyla Medina ran her all time personal best (24:30) to finish in the middle of the pack. Freshman Kevin Lampman also ran his personal best (32:09). Coach Juan said "I'm impressed by the progress each runner is making. Each week we are getting better and better not only as individuals but as a team. I look forward to having the team at full strength next week in Geneseo." The Bobcats will travel to the Geneseo Mike woods Invitational this saturday the 28th.
