Bobcats strike first in opening weekend!
Our women's soccer team started all our seasons off with a decisive 7-0 victory over Penn State Hazelton on Saturday. Coach Alex said "It's a great start to the season for us against a good team. There is still work that needs to be done to get to the level we need to be at going forward." A few bobcats suffered injuries but Coach Alex expects them to be back at full strength very soon. The Bobcats then went on to their second consecutive victory on Sunday at Cazenovia College. They came out to a raring start with 3 goals in the first 4 minutes of the game! They maintained that lead and secured the victory at the end of time by a score of 5-2. Coach Alex Says "We took our foot off the petal and allowed them back in the game. Ideally that's a lesson we will only have to learn once. Overall though, I'm very pleased with our performance all weekend." The next game for our women's team is this Thursday the 12th at 1pm at the CNY Family Sports Centre!
Our Men's team also started their season off on Saturday. Mark Parchment got the scoring started early and then the Bobcats continued to roll their way to the first victory of the season over Villa Maria College by a score of 8-0. Coach Nick said "In my 20 years of coaching I have had some athletic teams but I'm sure this is the most athletic team I have ever had here at BSC. The new comers for this season are aware now of the level of excellence we expect from this team and are ready to get to work going forward." To cap off the weekend the Men's team took on Albany College of Pharmacy on Sunday where Romaine Williamson opened the scoring with a header. The Bobcats went on to win this one as well by a score of 8-0. Coach Nick said "Our leaders, Connor (McGoldrick), Jon (Stublla), and Emilie (Amouzou), really took control and I'm proud of the way we started the season this weekend." The Bobcats take the field once again next Sunday the 15th at Mohawk valley Community College!
Coach Juan Martinez's Cross Country team had their first meet this weekend as well, the Cobbleskill Invitational. Sheyla Medina finished with a time of 32:11 in 59th place, Kevin Lampman finished with a time of 33:43 in 56th place, and Jaylin Roman finished with a time of 36:16 in 75th place. Coach Juan said "I'm very happy with the effort our team put forth in the first competition. We still have some work to do to get to where I'd like to be, but I'm proud of the team today". This coming Saturday the 14th is the next meet for the Bobcats at the SUNY Oneonta Invitational.
